Personal profile

Li Liping, born in Handan, Hebei, is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Shandong University. He has won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in China and the honorary title of “Baosteel Excellent Teacher”. He is the backbone member of “National Party Construction Work Model Branch” and “Huang Danian-style teacher team”. At the same time, he has won the China Youth Science and Technology Award, Zhan Tianyou Achievement Award and Tencent Science Exploration Award. Additionally, he is a member of the General Expert Group for National Key Special Projects of Transportation Infrastructure and the Technical Expert Group for Sichuan-Tibet Railway Construction Project Implementation. He is currently executive vice president in School of Qilu Transportation, Shandong University and the deputy director of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of High-end Construction Machinery. He also serves as the vice chairman of the Rock Engineering Design Method Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, the youth committee, and the vice chairman of the Chemical Grouting Branch of the Chinese Society of Hydraulic Engineering.

He mainly engaged in the research of intelligent construction and disaster prevention and control of underground engineering. He has won the second award of national prize for progress in science and technology in China one time, the second award of national prize for technological invention in China one time. Besides, he has won the first prizes of provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress and technological invention three times as the first contributor. His H-index is 39 and he has published 90 SCI/EI papers as the first and corresponding author, of which six papers are highly cited papers and one paper is selected as the 100 most influential international academic theories in China. He has granted two USA  patents, seven international PCT patents, 57 Chinese invention patents, fourteen soft copyrights as the first author. Additionally, he has participated in the compilation of ten standards and construction methods. He has been selected as the chairman of the Tunnel Construction and Disaster Control Discipline of the Tunnel Engineering Department of the World Transport Conference (WTC).

Educational Philosophy :

“Practice is the beginning of knowledge, knowledge is the result of action.” As an ordinary college teacher, he adheres to the basic concept of moral education, gives full play to the hidden role of ideological and political education, and creates an overall atmosphere for comprehensive education. While imparting students' academic knowledge, he also pays attention to cultivate students' scientific research literacy, actively promotes school-enterprise cooperation, develops students' practice bases, and cultivates students' scientific spirit of exploration, doubt, demonstration and rationality.

Humanistic Care:

He insists on carrying forward the idea of “benevolence” and conforming to the trend of the times, he believes that we should widely publicize the benevolent thought of “love everyone and loved ones” and formulate different training programs based on the ideological characteristics of students. He effectively uses the advantages of the school's resources to carry out targeted education, enrich student activities, innovate teaching methods, and pay attention to students. To meet the spiritual needs of students, he established a teacher-student relationship that was also a teacher and friend, and improved the level of students' ideological and political education.
