From May 17th to 19th, 2019, the 7th Shandong Undergraduate Robot Competition was held in the hometown of Mencius, Zoucheng, Shandong. After review, the project recommended by School of Qilu Transportation “Robot Rock Structure Detection and Lining Inspection Robot” successfully won the championship and first prize. The prizes were awarded and the instructor won the Outstanding Instructor Award.

It was reported that this competition attracted 122 teams from 45 universities including Shandong University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), Ocean University of China, China University of Petroleum (East China), majoring in mechanical design and manufacturing, automation, and electronic information engineering. More than 800 people participated in the competition, aiming to fully display the unique and innovative competitive style of contemporary young students, to stimulate technological innovation, achieve technological dreams, stimulate the innovation potential and creative vitality of university students in the province, and inject youthful power into the conversion of old and new kinetic energy in the province.

School of Qilu Transportation of Shandong University attached great importance to this competition. The team of Qin Chengshuai, Liu Jinpei, Yang Guangyu and his work ''Tunnel Rock Mass Structure Detection and Lining Detection Robot '' had been screened at the college and school level to stand out and represent Shandong University. After two days of fierce competition, the project successfully won the championship, the first prize, and the instructor won the outstanding instructor award.

It was understood that '' Tunnel Rock Mass Structure Detection and Lining Detection Robot '' was a set of intelligent detection equipment which can adapt to the harsh environment of underground engineering and realize the goal of unmanned detection, remote control based on VR technology greatly improving the efficiency and accuracy of detection. The most important advantage was to reduce casualties and ensure the safety of underground engineering detection operations. In the future, this set of equipment will be expected to be widely used in the intelligent construction of tunnels and underground engineering in China.

This competition was hosted by the Communist Youth League of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Shandong Provincial Education Department (Shandong Provincial Committee Education and Work Committee of the Communist Party of China), Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Association, Shandong Radio and Television Station, Shandong Student Union, and organized by Communist Youth League Jining Municipal Committee, Jining Education Bureau, the Municipal Science and Technology Association, the Jining Student Union, and the Zoucheng Government, and co-organized by Shandong Intelligent Robot Applied Technology Research Institute and Shandong Zhengfang Intelligent Robot Industry Development Co., Ltd. During the competition, the organizing committee also held the Shandong Undergraduate Robot Competition Innovation and entrepreneurship theme report.
